I've been really slacking on post lately. Had a great road trip around the southeast with the final stop being in Daytona for the chopper show at Willie's Tattoo. Made contact with the usual suspects there and saw some killer bikes.

Saw Flogging Molly in Nashville, rode in 30 degree weather for a whole day, made it to the Barber Museum in Alabama.

More shit coming in the next month that I'll probably take pictures of and never post.

What a crazy weekend, three days of riding with Gray on our panhead chops through the NC mountains and SC upstate.

Bike ran great, weather was cold and the fires were warm. Hung out with old friends, meet some cool guys and ready to hit the road again soon.

The red EVO chopper went to it's final Smokeout last weekend with me as the jockey. I had a blast and enjoyed the monsoon and sweltering heat so much I can't wait to do it again next year. It's on to a new owner now, who I'm sure will have a much fun as I have on it. Didn't really gain any space in the shop since part of the deal was taking this monster in. Time to run for hills and try the twistys. I think its time to take new pictures of the sportster and send it down the road as well.

After a seemingly unnecessary top end job and cosmetic makeover I was able to ride the scoot again. Got the timing figured out thank to Bacon and the Judge, did a short ride getting the engine up to temp and topping off the fuel tank. Tomorrow night re-torque the heads and double check all fasteners. Pictures to come tomorrow.

The Smokeout is a couple of weeks away and we're a month out from leaving for Spain/Portugal.

I spoke to my great uncle this afternoon about some family business. And once that was wrapped up he asked if I still had the model A.

He asked what size wheels and were they spokes. Explained how easy it was to set the timing on the 4 banger, start the car while adjusting the spark and fuel then pressing the starter on the floor. Recalling memories from his youth, when he was about 10. That's right 10, he and the older brother taking the model A for spins around the property.

It was really neat to hear him get excited as he remembered more and more details about the old car. The blade type connections at the spark plugs, packing water pump seals and not over revving the engine so as not to spin the babbitt type bearings.

He told me about my grandmothers 37' Ford coupe that had a V8 60 motor in it. That the small flathead motor that was more economical to run than the 85hp standard flathead.

He went on in detail about years ago and a guy down the road that worked on cars and took old cars and trucks off the frames and put new chassis and drivetrains under them. He said the he help the guy clean up around the shop one week and hauled away a dumptruck full of mostly flathead motors to the dump as trash because no one wanted them at that time.
